Publishing your Web Site

The key to publishing your web site is using FTP, rather than the usual HTTP.

It is possible to FTP from your browser, using IE to launch windows explorer as an FTP client.

Internet Explorer

For example to access the web space previously set up a geocities you would type
ftp://runshawpages@ftp.geocities.com/ into the browser address bar.

We have already stated the login by putting the runshawpages@ in front of the FTP address ftp.geocities.com

Once logged in the view should show a list of folders and files in the runshawpages folder.
There should be a folder set up with your student name.

FTP Server

Open up a explorer window, with the folder on your computer, containing your web pages. then simply drag and drop the files from the folder on your computer to your folder on the FTP server.

You may wish to use some other web space, for example; some provided by your ISP. For Specific details it is best to visit their web sites.
